Q. Is New Hope Charasmatic?

A. No, if that is meant in the sense of a continuous emphasis on the sign gifts; prevalent speaking in tongues, continual solicitation of healings, etc. But we are charismatic if that is meant in the classical Biblical sense. "Charisma" is a Greek word for gift. Every believer is supernaturally equipped with (a) spiritual gift(s), and each local expression of the body of Christ will function and grow most effectively only when its members appropriately express those gift(s).

We don't believe that God's people should pursue signs and wonders. As God's people follow Jesus, signs and wonders will follow them.

Q. Is NHBC's Doctrine Calvinistic?

A. We subscribe to some but not all of the classical "Five Points of Calvinism" commonly known by the acronym: TULIP. We acknowledge that scripture teaches the eternal security of the true believer—Perseverance of the Saints. Limited Atonement and Irresistible Grace are the teachings of Calvinism with which we take greatest exception.

Our view of God allows for a sovereign Deity who has exhaustive foreknowledge and comfortably coexists with the freely chosen acts of his volitional creatures. The Bible teaches that God is sovereign, but it also teaches that man is responsible. The benefit of the Gospel is available to whoever will receive it. We believe that God has exhaustive knowledge of the future and has elected each of those who chose to accept Him and predestined that they will be with him forever.

About New Hope

For us, it's all about Jesus

He is the Creator of all things. He is the Theme of the Bible. He is the Foundation of the Church. He is the Head of the Church. He is the Lord of the Church.

NHBC is a young and friendly church with casual dress and a contemporary style of worship. In doctrine, we are conservative; we believe that Jesus is God and his Word is absolute truth . We believe the Bible is perpetually relevant to every culture in all ages. We are mission and ministry oriented. We are pastor led and elder governed.

New Hope is a non-denominational, independent church. We do however, cooperate and collaborate with many theologically conservative ministries and other evangelical churches in the work of ministry.

We reject the clergy/laity model of doing church. Scripture teaches that every believer should be involved in the work of ministry. "And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry..." - (Ephesians 4:11-12)

We are pro-Israel. The Bible indicates that God loves Israel and blesses others who love them, therefore, we love, support and pray for the nation of Israel. The Church has strong Jewish roots, therefore, we support targeted evangelism of Jewish people. In order to more perfectly understand the Word of God, we regularly explore the culture and language of those to whom the Bible was written.
